Home EV charger rebates by ZIP code
The federal home charger tax credit ended on June 30, 2026. What's left is your utility and your state, and they don't advertise. Type a ZIP code and see the charger rebates, EV rates and car incentives that apply to your address.
Where this comes from
The U.S. Department of Energy's Alternative Fuels Data Center keeps a database of state laws and incentives and of the EV programs each utility runs. This page reads it every week. Your ZIP code finds your utility the same way the charging cost calculator does, from the Energy Information Administration's list of which utilities serve which ZIP codes.
- Utility programs are listed by type, not amount. Amounts change several times a year, and the utility's own page is the only one that's current. Each result links to it.
- State programs come with a one-paragraph summary. Many are first come, first served, and some close for months when the money runs out.
- If your utility isn't matched to your ZIP code, it is listed with the other utilities in your state. Pick yours from the list.
Before you buy anything
- Read the rules before the install, not after. Many utility rebates need a particular charger (networked, ENERGY STAR, on an approved list), a licensed electrician, a permit, or sign-up for an EV rate.
- Some want you to apply first. A few programs reject applications for chargers already installed. Check whether yours needs pre-approval.
- Keep everything. The invoice, the permit, the charger's serial number and a photo of it on the wall. Every rebate form asks for at least two of these.
- Ask about the rate, too. A cheap overnight EV rate often saves more in a year than the rebate pays once. The charging cost calculator does that math.
What happened to the federal credit
Section 30C paid 30% of a home charger and its installation, up to $1,000, in eligible census tracts. It applied to equipment placed in service by June 30, 2026, and has not been renewed. If yours went in before then, it is still claimed on your tax return for that year. Talk to whoever does your taxes, because I am not that person.
